More than a decade ago, I led a research project across 40 cities in the Czech Republic and Slovakia where we surveyed 8,290 secondary students about faith, belief, and the deepest needs of their hearts. We discovered that students see God as impersonal, distant, institutional—not like someone you’d turn to when you need happiness or love. The church’s credibility crisis is real. The spiritual hunger is even more real.
